Not sure if this was mentioned, went to Rino's in East Boston. Wait was kind of long and place was the size of a railroad car but the food made up for everything. Sauce and homemade pasta was amazing. I recommend someone open a bar across the street for people to wait at, place would be a gold mine.

Would highly suggest Toro in the South End. Great tapas selection and unreal paella.

Went Friday night and saw Tom Colicchio, who apparently is on America's Next Top Chef, and Youk, who is even uglier in person.

Toro is one of the best places in the city. It's a small place and it gets packed for dinner everynight. I've never been on the weekend but heard its always a long wait. I recommend going midweek after 8 and sitting at the bar. Everything on the menu is great and the sangria is top notch.

Ha...was trying to figure out where to go tomorrow night and a guy at work was raving about a "tapas place in the South End" that he couldn't remember the name of. Texted McAdam to find out what Bible was talking up in the past (turns out it was Masa), but in the meantime heard a lot about Toro from people at work and decided on that.

Mike22...you sit next to me?

Mike/Lou...what about getting there just before 7? That pushing it?

You will probably be looking at a wait at 7. The only times i have gone is right at 5:30 when the kitchen opens for dinner or around 8. From talking to the bartenders, it sounds like there is a wait every night of the week. The times I went early I think the rush started around 6:30. There are only 12 or so seats at the bar, and sometimes people camp out after eating which is pretty frustrating because its quite obvious people are waiting around the bar to eat. If there is a line, I would put in for a table and then just wait around the bar and see if anything opens. Last resort, if it looks like a long wait and there are people just drinking at the bar after they ate, offer to buy them a round for their seats.

Perfect.

Done.

Should I call and make reservations or roll the dice on a slow night?

I don't think I would go back to Toro. Maybe on a weeknight but even then only if I was already in the area. It just isn't worth the wait. On weekends you're looking at about an hour wait for a table. The bar area is packed with douchey people, and it can be slow to get a drink because 9 out of 10 drinks the bartenders have to make are fancy martinis/cocktails with 4 or more ingredients. The food was pretty good but just not worth the annoying wait in my opinion. Didn't quite live up to the hype. If I lived down the street I would probably hit it up on a weeknight from time to time but thats about it.
